Medical Examiner Identifies Interstate 280 Fatal Victim as Ali Modan

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner has identified the 17-year-old teenager killed in a solo car crash on Interstate 280 in the Los Altos Hills area of California. The ME in updates made to the accident report on Tuesday, August 18th, named Ali Modan of San Rafael as the victim.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the teen was one out of six people between the ages of 19 and 21 traveling in a Toyota Sienna minivan. The vehicle crashed on the interstate between Foothill Expressway and Magdalena Road at 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, August 16th.

The CHP report disclosed that the Toyota left the roadway into the center median for reasons the investigators are still trying to uncover. The vehicle subsequently overturned and struck several trees. The remaining five all sustained various degrees of injuries and survived.

The highway patrol identified four of them as a 16-year-old and two 19-year-olds from Mill Valley, and a 16-year-old from Sausalito. The investigators said that alcohol or (and) drugs did not play a role in the crash. They are looking for witnesses to the collision, and anyone with information should call the listed line.

Solo vehicle crashes happen for many reasons, and they are either due to the negligence of the driver or other factors. Law enforcement and traffic agencies advise drivers to operate their vehicles with due care, obey traffic rules and regulations, and put safety first.
