Nobody is ever prepared for an accident, and it occurs when a driver least expects it. When there’s a crash, avoid panicking, park at the scene, or the next possible place where traffic won’t get impeded. Check for injuries, and if there’s one, perform first aid, call 911, and remain until they arrive.

Collect witness statements if possible, and give the police a concise statement of events when they arrive. If the accident involves a parked car or personal property, the driver should leave behind his or her contact details if the vehicle owner is unavailable. Also, provide insurance and driver’s license information.

To prevent going through the above, drive carefully at all times, avoid drinking and driving, speeding, or distractions like eating, calling, or texting. Additionally, obey every traffic rule and endeavor to make an accident report after an occurrence.
