Montana Hendricks Arrested After Fleeing Scene Of Possible DUI Crash In Yreka

Marshall Blanchard

Authorities this week announced the drunk driving arrest of a Siskiyou County man accused of crashing into a utility pole last week in Yreka before fleeing the scene in another vehicle.

Charges of driving under the influence and hit and run are pending for 55-year-old Montana Hendricks, of Yreka, the California Highway Patrol reported Wednesday. Authorities said he was drunk behind the wheel during the June 11 wreck, in which he also was injured.

It is unclear whether Hendricks has yet retained the services of a drunk driving attorney.

Troopers said Hendricks crashed his vehicle into a utility pole on Scarface Road at about 9 p.m. June 11. A witness reportedly called in the wreck, telling dispatchers the male driver likely was intoxicated and injured.

Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, but Hendricks, identified as the driver, was uncooperative. He allegedly fled the scene in another vehicle driven by a woman, whom authorities have not publicly identified.

The woman drove away from the scene, allegedly running a stop sign in the process. Authorities said the vehicle was pulled over and Hendricks was identified as the person who fled the scene of the wreck.

Troopers said the woman admitted that she picked up Hendricks, who was the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. Troopers determined he was intoxicated and then transported him to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Online records don’t list any upcoming court dates, nor do they say whether he has obtained representation from a drunk driving attorney.
