Nyrik Anderson Killed In 3-Vehicle Wreck In Menifee

A California man was killed and three other people were injured Tuesday evening in a suspected intoxicated driving crash in Menifee, according to state authorities.

Twenty-six-year-old Nyrik Anderson, of Menifee, was pronounced dead not long after the crash, which occurred just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Escondido Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. Three others – including a 7-month-old infant — were injured, car accident reports state.

Troopers said 24-year-old Bryant M. Colin, of Murietta, was driving south on Escondido Freeway between Newport and Scott roads at about 8:30 p.m. He was traveling a high rate of speed and he failed to stop in time for stalled traffic ahead, according to car accident reports.

Colin’s vehicle smashed into the end of one vehicle, which in turn was pushed into the rear of another. The driver of the second vehicle, identified only as a 22-year-old woman from Menifee, suffered minor injuries. However, her passenger, Anderson, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at a hospital at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to car accident reports.

Colin’s passenger, a 7-month-old boy, also suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, authorities said. The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured, car accident reports state.

Colin also was injured, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment before being arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, child endangerment, murder and driving under the influence.

Troopers said Colin is being held on a $1 million bond ahead of a court appearance later this week.
