Police Arrests Keven Aranda for Bakersfield DUI Accident that Left Two Injured

Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Bakersfield, California, on Sunday, March 8th. The police arrested Keven Aranda, 21, in connection to the accident on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Bakersfield Police Department preliminary report showed that the crash happened a little after midnight near 24th and Myrtle Street. The police received a 911 call about the accident, and officers drove down to the 2300-block of Myrtle Street.

When they got to the scene, the officers saw a pickup truck on fire with two people trapped inside. Aranda, who drove the vehicle had been able to exit and stood by as the police tried to free the passengers.

The officers succeeded in bringing out the unidentified passengers and extinguished the fire. The two suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital where they received treatment.

Aranda had been driving east on 24th Street when he suddenly veered off the road and hit a barrier on Myrtle Street. A breathalyzer test by the police showed that the young man’s driving was impaired as he was under the influence at the time.

The BPD officers booked Aranda into the Kern County Jail, and jail records show that he has been charged with felony DUI causing injury. The latter is punishable with three years in county jail, and $5000 fine.

As an alternative, the court can give a five-year probation sentence. While serving the latter, the offending driver is not allowed to drive a vehicle, have alcohol or drugs in his or her bloodstream, and submit to a random chemical test when a court-appointed official decides.
