Police Detain Edgardo Lopez on DUI Suspicion Following Simi Valley Crash

A man facing DUI charges for causing a traffic collision in Simi Valley, California, would require the services of a drunk driving attorney. The tragic multi-vehicle encounter played out on Tuesday night, May 26.

The Simi Valley Police Department deployed officers to the scene of a crash, following reports of a traffic collision that left one car in flames on Patricia Avenue. Responding officers discovered the incident involved several other vehicles, most of which ended up severely dented in the crash.

Investigations conducted at the scene showed one of the vehicles was driven by 21-year-old Edgardo Lopez, westbound on Patricia. The westbound car suddenly drifted off the roadway and crashed into a parked vehicle on the 1500 block. Police said the motorist continued driving forward until he skidded into a second car sitting in the area.

The second impact caused Edgardo Lopez’s vehicle to become disabled and went ablaze. The motorist extricated himself from the burning car before the flames engulfed it. He sustained only minor injuries. Emergency responders transported Lopez to a hospital for treatment.

Detectives later determined that the motorist was under the influence of liquor or an illicit substance when he slammed into the two parked vehicles. They took him into custody on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or both. Lopez remains held at the Ventura County Jail.

Motorists involved in DUI-related crashes should contact a drunk driving attorney for representation.
