Junipero Serra High Student Hit by Car

A San Diego high school student was hit by a car at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident occurred in the 5100 block of Santo Road and Porto Court, in the Tierrasanta Neighborhood of San Diego, near Junipero Serra High School, where the student attends school.

Witnesses say that the boy was thrown across the intersection after being hit by a green car. Bystanders helped move him out of the intersection, and he was later taken to a local hospital. Fortunately, his injuries appear to be fairly minor, and include facial lacerations and an arm injury.

Following the accident, the driver stopped and cooperated with police. The driver will not face any charges. Authorities say that the victim had been jaywalking and that the driver had had the right of way, and used the incident to remind citizens to follow the rules of traffic safety.
