Rodrigo Llamas Named San Jose Fatal Accident Victim

On Wednesday, July 1st, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified 21-year-old Rodrigo Llama as the victim of a solo crash in San Jose, California. The accident occured on Tuesday, June 16th, near the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Redmond Avenue.

The San Jose Police Department’s car accident report placed the time of the accident at about 2:10 a.m. The preliminary investigation uncovered that Llamas drove a black 2006 Acura Integra southbound on Almaden. He was traveling at top speed and collided with two trees.

The impact of the collision left Llamas, who was the sole occupant of the car with injuries that claimed his life at the scene. The death of the man who served as a Lance Corporal with the Marine Corps is the 24th traffic fatality the city of San Diego has recorded this year. There is no additional information.

Single-vehicle accidents are not uncommon in California and the United States, and they occur for preventable and unpreventable reasons. Driving at a speed exceeding the legal limit is one of the avoidable causes of traffic collisions. Often, speed is a resultant effect of intoxication, which also breeds recklessness.

A driver who speeds stands the chance of taking turns too quickly, which can result in a rollover crash, veering off the roadway, and colliding with a fixed object like a sign or light pole. It also causes motorists to strike other road users and prevents braking in time to avoid a collision when an animal or debris suddenly appears on the roadway.
