A man identified as 54-year-old John Redman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Ana early Monday.
The incident was reported about 5:50 a.m. in the 2600 block of West First Street, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. Redman lived in a halfway house nearby.
Redman was struck by what is believed to be a white Toyota Tacoma as he was crossing the street and the driver of the pickup did not stop.
Surveillance video captured the truck as it was turning at an intersection and the vehicle appeared to have front-end damage. Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver that left the scene, officials said.
According to Investigator Bao, the driver wouldn’t have been at fault in the crash, but since he or she fled the scene, they may face hit-and-run charges.
