Alvar Moreno Dies 4 Days After Santa Clara Crash

A teen lost his life on Friday, September 25, after succumbing to the injuries he had sustained in a crash four days earlier. The deceased was identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office as Alvar Moreno, 18, of Santa Clara.

According to the details shared by the authorities, Moreno was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash on Monday, September 21. He was driving a 2009 Mini Cooper at the time and traveling on the Monroe Street. As his vehicle drew close to the Francis Street, Moreno apparently lost control of the vehicle.

The Cooper veered away from the roadway and crashed into a power pole by the roadside. The crash occurred in the evening and was reported to the authorities at around 7:40 p.m.

Once the first responders and law enforcement officers arrived on the scene of the crash, they found that Alvar Moreno, who was driving the Cooper, had sustained serious injuries. After providing preliminary medical treatment to Moreno, paramedics rushed him to a local hospital. Moreno remained under treatment at the hospital where attempts were made to revive him. However, these failed on Friday when he died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 5:17 p.m.

Santa Clara Police continues to investigate the fatal incident. Preliminary investigations reveal that Moreno had been speeding along the Monroe Street moments before the fateful accident. Further investigation into the incident may reveal whether or not alcohol was a contributing factor. Authorities are likely to share more vital details in subsequent accident reports.
