Friday night was unusually unpleasant in Santa Clarita Valley, where two separate car accidents took the lives of two people. The first accident, which took place on Bouquet Canyon Road, killed Douglass Albert Rawson, a man of Saugus. Robert Doyle, another driver, was traveling southbound in his vehicle near Shadow Valley lane but fell asleep, obviously rendering him unable to drive. His vehicle veered off course into the opposing lane, with vehicles coming at him from the north. As a result, his vehicle crashed with Rawson’s.
The second accident took the life of a Francisco Diaz, who was ejected from his vehicle on Lake Hughes Road. The man’s car by two hikers, according to California Highway Patrol, and his body was found later by rescue units. At the time of the car accident, Diaz had not been wearing a seatbelt, which contributed to him being ejected. According to reports, Diaz was on the job making deliveries when he lost control, driving off the edge of the road into a ravine 95 feet below.
