Star Baggett-Porter, Luis Ortiz, and Ebodio Castro Collide in Highway 101 DUI-Related Crash

Three vehicles collided on Highway 101 in the Santa Rosa area of California on Thursday morning, July 9th. The accident report lists the three people involved as Star Baggett-Porter, 31, of Arizona, Luis Orea Ortiz, 37, of Rohnert Park, and Ebodio Castro, 40, of Rohnert Park.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred precisely near the downtown Santa Rosa exit, and a report of the occurrence came in around 7:10 a.m. The events leading to the collision began with Baggett-Porter, who drove a 2013 Chevrolet Impala north in the left lane of the highway.

Officer Marcus Hawkins said that the woman rear-ended a 2014 Toyota Tacoma driven by Ortiz, causing him to lose control and collide with a 2003 Nissan Frontier driven by Castro. The collision’s impact caused the two pickups to overturn, and the Tacoma went past the edge of the highway and plunged down an embankment.

The vehicle landed on a dirt patch near the Third Street off-ramp adjacent to a Santa Rosa Plaza parking structure. Baggett-Porter and Castro’s cars remained on the freeway, but the woman’s Chevrolet overturned and spilled roofing nails.

The crash left Castro with minor wounds, and he received treatment in an undisclosed hospital. Ortiz was uninjured, and the CHP determined that Baggett-Porter was driving under the influence. They arrested her and booked her into the Sonoma County Jail on a $100 000 bail bond. She has a court date on Monday, July 13th.
