Suspected DUI Driver, Eric Munson, Arrested Following Fatal Long Beach Crash

A drunk driving attorney would be needed in the Long Beach area of California after a suspected DUI motorist struck a vehicle operated by a 56-year-old woman, leading to her death. The offending driver was arrested on Saturday, April 11, shortly after the incident occurred.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the wreck just after 4:40 pm on Canal Street upon reports of a traffic collision involving three vehicles.

Responding officers gathered that the fatal victim was operating a 1995 Toyota Tercel, which was parked on the street corner. Suddenly, an approaching 2003 Nissan Altima, driven by Eric Munson, a 23-year-old male, struck the rear end of the parked vehicle.

The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to skid forward, crashing into a semi tractor-trailer parked directly in front of it. The female driver of the stuck Toyota, whose name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin, did not survive the tragic wreck.

Muson fled the crash site after hitting the 56-year-old woman, without stopping to render assistance. However, he was eventually intercepted by law enforcement not long afterward and taken into custody.

Officers determined that the hit-and-run driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash,

The alleged drunk driver remains held at the county jail, where he faces charges of felony driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run.

Although the culprit holds the greater liability for a DUI accident, a drunk driving attorney may be able to secure a lesser penalty or get the charges dismissed depending on the gravity of the offense.
