Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash in Lakeland Village.
Fifty-two-year-old Timothy Collins, of Lakeland Village, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which occurred at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s coroner’s bureau. No other injuries as a result of the crash are listed on car accident reports.
Collins reportedly was driving his motorcycle north on Grand Avenue near the Lake Country Plaza Shopping Center at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday when a vehicle pulled into his path from the shopping center parking lot. Collins, who was traveling at about 45 mph just prior to the wreck, could not stop in time and crashed into the vehicle, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Collins, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected, according to car accident reports. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash.
Troopers said the other driver involved in the incident, identified as a 67-year-old Lakeland Village man, cooperated with investigators at the scene. Collins reportedly had the right-of-way at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and authorities do not believe the use of intoxicants contributed to the crash. No charges or citations have been announced by investigators, though the California Highway Patrol told local media outlets that charges or citations could be announced in the future.
