On Tuesday morning, February 11th, Tatiana Leytman, 50, got injured by a hit and run driver. The unknown driver left her lying on the curb without stopping to ensure she is okay.
The accident happened at Fountain Avenue, and Lyman place, Los Angeles. Leytman suffered severe injuries; she broke her leg and a rib and was taken to the hospital, after first responders arrived at the scene.
The older woman was crossing the road at about 9:05 a.m. and was halfway through the crosswalk when a vehicle struck her down from her left side. The impact threw her a few feet down the road.
Leytman was lying on the curb when the Los Angeles Fire Department and EMT officials arrived at the scene. She is currently recuperating at home while the police try to track down the driver.
The LAPD is working with limited information about the driver. But they’ve stated that the suspect was driving a red or burgundy 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Uplander. The van is damaged at the front on its right side from hitting Leytman.
The LAPD is still gathering evidence to locate the driver. They have asked anyone with relevant information to contact them without delay.
The state of California frowns against hit-and-run offenses. It is a serious traffic offense that is classified as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the circumstances of the case.
When a person is injured, it becomes the latter. In that case, California Vehicle Code 20001, provides that the offender gets imprisoned in a state jail for a period not less than four years or pays a fine between $1000 and $10 000.
