Update: Rabbi Kumar Khanna Charged with Four Counts of Murder

The man whose car crashed and killed four people on Highway 85 in San Jose last week is now facing murder charges.

This crash was covered in previous accident reports out of California.

Twenty-six-year-old San Jose man Rabbi Kumar Khanna is being held in the Santa Clara County Jail on four counts of murder and one count of driving under the influence.

This was revealed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

Khanna was arraigned on Friday and he is not eligible for bail.

The crash occurred on southbound Highway 85 south of Cottle Road just before 10:15 p.m. last Wednesday.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office said the victims were 26-year-old Amador Landa, 26-year-old Johnnie Perez Damian, 25-year-old Issac Landa, and 25-year-old Shannon Galbraith, 25.

The California Highway Patrol said all four victims were residents of San Jose.

Khanna received minor injuries in the crash as did another passenger, an unnamed 24-year-old man.

According to court documents, Khanna was driving a Dodge Durango and going at nearly 100 miles per hour. He was seen swerving before the crash occurred.

His breath tests reportedly showed that he was well over the legal limit with blood alcohol content readings of .206 percent and .165 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.

The district attorney’s office said Khanna was driving on a suspended license because of a drunk driving conviction that resulted from a December 2018 incident.

Khanna will make his next court appearance on July 13, accident reports say.

It is not known whether the victim’s families will take legal action against him.
