Eric Bahr Charged with Felony Murder after Car Crash Kills One in Tomball

A car accident lawyer is needed after the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, May 19, charged a driver, Eric Bahr, with felony murder. The charges against the suspect came following a single-vehicle crash along Highway 249, Tomball, Texas.

The crash killed a woman identified as Melissa Wendt and left 6-year-old Ava Bahr, injured. Ava was in the backseat of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The collision happened at about 11:45 PM on Monday, May 18, at the southbound lanes of 249 at Lakewood Crossing. According to deputies, a grey Lincoln MKS veered off the road and crashed into a pole on private property.

The impact of the crash left Bahr, the driver of the vehicle critically injured, while Ava sustained moderate injuries. However, Wendt died at the scene. Ava was wearing her seatbelt when the crash occurred, helping to save her life.

Lindsay Carlen, who witnessed the accident, ran to the victims to render assistance until paramedics arrived. Medics airlifted the driver and the toddler to a hospital.

In a statement, the HCSO said that Eric Bahr showed signs of impairment at the hospital. They arrested him and charged him with felony murder.

Authorities were not immediately able to establish the relationship between the suspect and the passengers. They notified the deceased’s husband of the fatal crash.

The case remains under investigation. Following his charge, Bahr requires a car accident lawyer to represent him during court proceedings.
