Lawrence Sieber, 62, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, faces multiple criminal charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing multiple crashes, one of which critically injured another driver.
The rampage began at around 5 p.m. on Sunday in Villa Park, Illinois. Sieber T-boned a car in the intersection of Ardmore and Jackson, and then fled the scene, going on to hit several other vehicles. When police began to pursue him, he fled the officers, rammed a car in front of him at a stoplight, and continued to resist arrest after officers were forced to remove him from his vehicle.
All in all, Sieber caused four separate crashes, two in Villa Park and two in Lombard. The first crash, at Ardmore and Jackson, was the most devastating, and the driver of the other car involved remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Sieber has been charged with several Class 4 felonies, including leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, aggravated reckless driving, and aggravated fleeing and eluding. His bail was set at $750,000, and is due in court February 7.
