On Sunday, May 31st, a male driver caused an accident on a roadway in the Cumberland County area of Illinois that injured two people. The authorities’ accident report showed that 27-year-old Osvaldo Cedre caused the near-fatal crash that occurred early in the morning.

The Illinois State Police in a press release said that the crash took place at approximately 4:27 a.m. on Interstate 70. The young driver, who is from the Laredo area of Texas, was driving a green 2009 Freightliner truck-tractor semitrailer on the west lanes of the roadway.

As Cedre approached milepost 123, he stayed in the right lane. Suddenly, the driver could no longer control the Freightliner and ended up overturning in the middle of the right and left lanes.

The fall caused an oncoming white Ford F-350 Budget rental truck driven by a woman from Harper Woods, Michigan, 52-year-old Janeria Scott to strike the under of the trailer. The impact left the motorist with non-fatal injuries, but the medics used a helicopter to transport her to an undisclosed area hospital for treatment.

A male passenger in the Ford, 29-year-old Gilbert Clark of Waco, Texas, also suffered non-fatal wounds and received treatment at an area medical center. The ISP did not state in the accident report if Cedre sustained any injury.

The police cited the man for the traffic offense of changing lanes illegally and did not state if there will be additional charges. There is no further detail at this time.
