A 57-year-old man died in a crash Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Bolingbrook, authorities said Wednesday afternoon.
Jaime Herrera, of Franklin Park, died from injuries sustained in the wreck, which occurred Tuesday evening on U.S. 55, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office. The other driver, identified only as a 30-year-old Bolingbrook woman, also was wounded, officials report.
The Illinois State Police reported Wednesday that Herrera and the other driver were heading north on U.S. 55 at about 7 p.m. Tuesday. As they were near Woodward Avenue, Herrera reportedly lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete barrier to the left of the roadway.
The second vehicle struck Herrera’s vehicle, causing it to roll over onto its roof, troopers said. Emergency medical personnel transported Herrera to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly before 8 p.m., according to authorities.
The woman’s injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening. No one else was in the vehicles at the time of the wreck, troopers said.
It’s the second fatal wreck in the Bolingbrook area in as many days.
Colin Montrose, 17, died in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Boughton Road. He was in a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by another, causing serious injuries to both drivers as well.
