Boris Bebikh Injured in I-57 Semi Trailer Crash

A man was injured in a crash on the Interstate 57 that involved several vehicles. The incident took place on early morning hours of Tuesday, March 10.

According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, Boris Bebikh, 62, of California was riding a semi trailer when the accident happened. The trailer was a 2011 Peterbilt truck. Traveling northbound on the I-57, Bebikh seems to have lost control of the semi. The vehicle then collided with the center median, also hitting the guard rail on both sides. To avoid the vehicle from getting into Logan Creek, Bebikh steered the vehicle left. This brought the truck into the southbound lanes.

The truck then struck the concrete barrier wall on the end of the southbound lanes before coming to a stop. In its resting position, the truck was fully wedge between the barriers on either side of the southbound lanes, effectively blocking all traffic on the lanes.

Boris Bebikh sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital. Another vehicle that was southbound on I-57 struck the debris of the crashed truck. This second victim was identified as Ahmad H. Abunijemah, 34, of Arlington, Texas. It is not known whether Abunijemah sustained any injuries in the crash. He was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry at the time.

The Illinois State Police continues to investigate the incident. As per the preliminary investigations of the police, Bebikh was riding too fast for road conditions. He has been cited for improper lane usage and driving too fast for road conditions.
