On Sunday, May 31st, a motorcyclist drove through a rally in Bloomington, Illinois, and injured two people before fleeing the scene without stopping to render help. The Bloomington Police Department said in a news briefing that they arrested the biker, Marshall Blanchard, 22, that same day and would need a motorcycle accident lawyer.
The BPD investigators said the rally took place in the downtown area of the city, and calls about the accident came in around 7 p.m. When officers arrived at Front Street and Madison Street, they found that Blanchard injured a female and male protester.
The 22-year-old woman suffered severe but non-fatal wounds to her legs and torso, and the medics conveyed her to BroMenn’s Emergency Department. The 28-year-old man had an arm injury, and doctors at St. Joseph’s treated him.
Marshall Blanchard left the accident site after the crash, but the police found him around 10 p.m. They also found and towed the suspect’s motorcycle, and booked him into the McLean County Jail. There is currently no information about his bond.
The young man is facing a felony for leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and another for reckless conduct and failure to obey a police officer. If convicted under Illinois law, the suspect is facing between one to three years behind bars and a $25,000 fine.
Those involved in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident should contact a motorcycle accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
