The autopsy report on the death of a car crash victim returned on Saturday, August 1. The autopsy, ordered by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, confirmed ‘accident’ as the cause of death as per the accident reports.
The unfortunate incident in which the victim lost his life had occurred on Friday, July 31. Reports from the medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Wendell Turner, 60, of Roseland on the Far South Side.
Turner was traveling on the Stevenson Expressway in Bridgeport when the fatal accident occurred. According to Illinois State Police, Turner was riding a Chevrolet Malibu at the time. He was northbound on the Expressway when he apparently lost control of the vehicle close to the South Halsted Street. The Malibu then veered away from the road and collided with a wall at a high speed.
The incident occurred on Friday night and was reported to the authorities at around 10:30 p.m. Wendell Turner sustained critical injuries in the crash. Once the paramedics reached the scene of the accident, Turner was rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, he failed to recover and died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Details shared by ISP reveal that Turner was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The medical examiner’s office had ordered an autopsy which revealed that Turner had died of the injuries sustained in the crash. It isn’t clear whether ISP is investigating the incident any further. Subsequent accident reports may reveal what caused Turner to lose control of the vehicle.
