The occupants of the Kia vehicle involved in an auto-motorcycle collision on Edens Expressway, Chicago, Illinois, have been identified as Bernandino Mendez, 55, and Jose A. Mendez, 58; both residents of the city. Updates made to the accident report on Friday, August 14th, revealed the name of the two.
The initial report released by the Chicago Police Department placed the time of the occurrence at about 11:48 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12th. Bernandino drove the Kia pulling a trailer, with Jose as his passenger. The investigators said that a motorcycle ridden by Nicholas A. Boyd, 27, of Chicago, struck the car.
The motorcyclist was southbound on Interstate 94 before the collision. The impact sent the two-wheeled drive across the two lanes of the roadway, where it struck another bike operated by Ardjent Bektesi, a 24-year-old resident of Elk Grove Village.
Boyd, his female passenger, identified as Tiffany S. Crape, 28, of Chicago, and the second motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries. Bernandino and Jose suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All injured persons received treatment in the hospital, but there’s no update on the severe trio.
The CPD cited Bektesi for violation of a driver’s license classification, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with a canceled, suspended, or revoked Illinois registration. He was also cited for driving too fast for conditions or failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. There is no additional information at the time of this report.
