A Chicago woman was killed and two Chicago Police officers injured in a traffic crash this morning. The officers were responding to an emergency call and were in pursuit of suspects in a home invasion robbery, when their SUV collided with a vehicle driven by Jacqueline Reynolds on the 2400 block of East 76th Street. Following the collision with the police vehicle, Reynolds’ vehicle struck a third vehicle. The female driver of the third vehicle fled the scene on foot, while the male passenger was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition
The two officers involved in the crash were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they were both deemed to be in stable condition. Reynolds was also taken to Northwestern Memorial, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Billy Griggs knew Reynolds for forty years and said that she will be greatly missed. “She was a nice lady. Everybody liked her,” Griggs stated. While police are claiming that Reynolds was at fault in the crash, witnesses have conflicting reports and appear to fault the police vehicle for the fatal auto accident. “I think there is going to be a cover up,” one witness stated. “We don’t know why the police did what they did,” Reynolds’ sister-in-law Cheryl Tisby stated.
