Forklift Accident in Bridgeport Kills Roberto Alvarez

A forklift accident resulted in Bridgeport on the South Side resulted in the death of one person. The unfortunate incident occurred earlier this week on Monday, July 13 as per the accident reports.

According to the details shared by the authorities, the incident occurred at a business location on West 37th Street at around 3:40 p.m. It is not clear whether the man was operating the forklift at the time. It is also not known whether the first responders arrived on the scene of the crash or if the man was privately transferred to a hospital. Reports available so far do mention that the police officers saw the victim at the hospital and conducted death investigations at the medical facility.

The deceased was identified as Roberto Alvarez, 57, of Brighton Park. Once Alvarez was rushed to the hospital, the Cook County medical examiner’s office pronounced him dead at around 4:30 p.m. The examiner’s office also sought an autopsy of the deceased. Results of the autopsy show that Roberto Alvarez had suffered a number of critical injuries as a result of the forklift crash. These injuries caused him death, so his death was ruled an accident.

Chicago police continues to investigate the incident. During the preliminary death investigations, the officers found that the business where the incident happened was closed. Once the officers conduct a full on-premises review and investigation, it will become clearer in subsequent accident reports how the incident occurred. If the concerned business had not taken sufficient safety measures to avoid such an incident, it can be held liable for the incident.
