Lukasz Strok Arrested After Crashing Into Chicago Bus, Injuring Himself, 3 Others

A Chicago man was arrested early Thursday after he crashed his vehicle into a public bus, injuring multiple passengers, police said Friday.

Lukasz Strok, 29, a resident of the Northwest Side, was arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a weapon, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and operating without insurance, the Chicago Police Department said. He also was cited with disregarding a traffic light and failure to reduce speed, according to authorities.

He has obtained the services of a drunk driving attorney to represent him at upcoming criminal proceedings.

Police said Strok drover through a red light at the intersection of Washington and Clark streets at about 4:20 a.m. Thursday. He struck a Chicago Transit Authority bus, pushing it through the front windows at a nearby bank.

The crash injured the bus’ driver and two passengers, neither of whom were identified publicly. Strok also was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities reported.

Strok later was arrested on multiple charges, and a bond hearing for Strok was held Friday. Prosecutors said they found a rifle and thousands of rounds of ammunitions in Strok’s vehicle, as well as an anti-government manifesto in the trunk of Strok’s vehicle.

Strok’s drunk driving attorney represented him during the bond hearing. The attorney reportedly said the supposed manifesto was in fact fiction that had been found on the internet.

A judge ordered Strok held on a $250,000 bond.
