Pedestrian Hit by Car, Killed in Chicago

An unidentified 66-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning, after being hit by a car on the Southwest Side of Chicago.

The accident occurred at approximate 1:40 a.m., on the 5200 block of South Cicero in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood. The car involved was a Nissan Ultima, driven by a 55-year-old male, also unidentified. The driver of the Ultima told police officers that the pedestrian had jumped into the street.

The pedestrian was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died less than an hour later. The investigation is still ongoing, although the driver has been cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
