A press release by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on Thursday, October 1st, disclosed the details of an accident that claimed two teenagers’ lives in Wauconda, Illinois. Coroner Howard Cooper said that 19-year-old Aria Albertelli drove the vehicle involved in the crash.
Cooper said that the car accident report showed that the occurrence took place around 1:35 p.m on Friday, September 25th. It involved a BMW car and a dump truck. The two vehicles were in the northbound lane of Route 12 south of Case Road.
The report revealed that a red BMW 325i collided with a Mack dump truck in the roadway’s 29000-block. The Wauconda Police said that Albertelli drove into the back of the car, which carried a bulldozer.
The dump truck was pulling out of a driveway when the collision happened. Medics took the driver and her 16-year-old female passenger to Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition, and they succumbed to their wounds.
Cooper said Albertelli and the other teen died from blunt force trauma, and ruled their death an accident. The driver of the Mack truck was uninjured. The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing with the WPD and the LCCO heading it.
Motor vehicle collisions are one of the predominant causes of death in Illinois and the United States. Reducing crash and fatality rates depends on road users, and they can keep the numbers down by obeying the road’s rules and driving carefully and cautiously.
