Four people reportedly were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning near Martinsville in Clark County, according to authorities.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Shyrique A. L. Pyfrom, 22, of Columbus, Ohio, was driving east on U.S. 70 west of Martinsville at about 7:40 a.m. Monday. Pyfrom, who had three passengers in her vehicle, drifted into another lane, colliding with the side of a semi-tractor trailer.
Pyfrom’s vehicle “spun out,” according to the Illinois State Police report, crossed in front of the truck, struck a tree and ultimately came to rest in a ditch.
The passengers in Pyfrom’s vehicle, Damien Morris, 19, Kayja Barbour, 18, and Jason Rushton, 18, all of Columbus, sustained injuries in the crash, according to Illinois State Police. None of them were wearing seatbelts at the time, the report stated.
All three teens, as well as Pyfrom, were taken to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind., for treatment of injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, authorities said in the report. The driver of the semi, Jeffrey Herbig, 51, of Hillsboro, Mo., was not injured.
Pyfrom was cited with improper lane usage, operating a vehicle without insurance and failure to wear seatbelts.
