A motorcycle crash in Mascoutah left one man with non-serious injuries on February 23, Sunday. According to the details shared by the Mascoutah Police Department, the accident took place when George Fagan, 65, crashed his motorcycle into a stationary vehicle.
Fagan was traveling northbound on the Sixth Street at the time. He was riding a 2001 Ducati motorcycle. As he drew close to the Fuessner Road, a 2008 Mitsubishi came to a stop in his lane while the car driver waited to take a left turn from the Sixth Street to the Fuessner Road. Fagan couldn’t stop his motorcycle in time. As a result, his Ducati rear-ended the Mitsubishi.
The incident took place at around 3:30 p.m. Fagan was ejected from his bike as a result of the collision. He was wearing a helmet at the time which saved him from any serious head injuries. According to Mascoutah Police Department Lt. Matt Steinkamp, Fagan was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the crash. Lt. Steinkamp confirmed that Fagan’s injuries were not serious.
The Ducati motorcycle Fagan was riding at the time of collision sustained significant damage in the collision. It had to be towed away from the site of accident. The police also cited Fagan for failure to reduce speed and avoid an accident. This is regarded as a petty offenses as per Illinois laws. The punishment for the ticket is a fine of up to $1,000. The ticket also appears on the driver’s record if the driver is found guilty of negligence.
