Jacob Pikosky, 5, Killed in Glenview Crash

Accident reports state that a 5-year-old boy struck by a vehicle in north suburban Glenview, Illinois has died. The crash happened on Tuesday, June 2, around 12:51 pm in the 700-block of Waukegan Road.

Following the crash, medics rushed the boy to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition. Police later announced his death on Tuesday evening and revealed his identity.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash. Police revealed that he was cooperating with the investigations.

Initial investigations also showed that the driver wasn’t impaired, leading to the crash. Police said that charges, if any, will be determined when investigations conclude.

Drivers must be vigilant and alert whenever they are driving on the roadway. They must watch out for pedestrians who may be lurking around at intersections or who may be crossing the road.

Drivers must avoid speeding, especially when they are in busy areas. When motorists drive at reduced speed, they give themselves a better chance to react in case of any instantaneous movement ahead of them.

Pedestrians, on the other hand, must be careful whenever they are walking on the road. They must keep to the sidewalks and watch carefully before crossing the street.

When crossing the road, a pedestrian must use designated sidewalks and must avoid crossing the road haphazardly. They must obey traffic lights and wait for the green lights for pedestrians before going ahead to cross.

Accident reports show that most pedestrian crashes occur due to negligence of road traffic rules and regulations. Hence drivers and pedestrians alike must be safety-conscious and obey road traffic rules at all times.
