Authorities have identified the man killed last month in a head-on wreck in unincorporated Hebron.
Jason Miller, 41, of McHenry, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred May 18 on Vanderkarr Road, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. Miller’s passenger and the other driver involved in the crash both were injured as well, car accident reports state.
Authorities said William P. Bishop, 42, of Chicago, was driving west in the 11500 block of Vanderkarr Road when he lost control of his vehicle. His jeep drifted into the eastbound lane, where it crashed into Miller’s vehicle, according to car accident reports.
Miller’s vehicle rolled, causing him to suffer fatal injuries, deputies reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 56-year-old McHenry man whose name was not included in car accident reports, was taken to a hospital for treatment of potentially life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Bishop also was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries, car accident reports state. Updated condition reports for Bishop and Miller’s passenger weren’t available Sunday afternoon.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident. Authorities said it still is unclear what caused Bishop to lose control of his vehicle, according to car accident reports. Toxicology reports still are pending, authorities said.
Bishop was cited with improper lane usage. He is set to appear in court in mid-July.
