Javier Martinez, Three Others Die in River Forest Crash


Four people lost their lives in a tragic crash that occurred in River Forest late on the weekend. The incident occurred in the western suburban section of the area as per the accident reports. The victims of the crash were identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Javier Martinez aged 20, Wendy Salgado aged 20, Christian Isidro aged 21, and Astrid Reyes aged 19.

According to the details shared by the police, the fatal accident occurred on Sunday, August 9, just after midnight. It occurred in the 400 block of Harlem Avenue and was reported to the authorities at around 12:50 a.m.

Five people were traveling in a single vehicle when the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle. It then veered away from the roadway and hit a planter. The vehicle then struck a light pole before colliding into a wall at a high rate of speed.

The sheer impact of the collision caused severe injuries to all the occupants of the car. Two of the occupants succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene once the paramedics arrived. The other three were rushed to a local hospital where two more victims of the crash lost their lives.

The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries but was able to survive the incident. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
