Justin Fritz Injured in Single-Vehicle Rollover Accident

A single-vehicle crash that took place on the night of Thursday, March 26, left one person injured. The accident occurred close to Fulton, Illinois. It involved only one vehicle and the person driving the vehicle.

According to the details shared by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred along the Illinois route 84. It happened when the driver of a passenger vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway. The driver was identified by the authorities as Justin Fritz, 30, of Clinton, Iowa.

As Fritz lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and ran into a roadside ditch. The vehicle then hit a number of trees and rolled over before coming to a stop. As authorities were notified of the crash, rescue and EMS personnel arrived on scene. Fritz was provided basic medical treatment and then transported to a nearby hospital for a more thorough treatment. The nature and extent of his injuries is not known at this time.

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a statement that preliminary investigations reveal that the negligent driving of Fritz caused the incident. Fritz has been cited for Improper Driving on the Shoulder. Illinois laws deem it illegal for a driver to use the road shoulder and ride on it as a lane. The shoulder is exclusively meant for vehicular emergencies and highway vehicles. The penalty for Improper Driving on the Shoulder is a moving violation ticket. The fine for the ticket is anywhere between $25 and $150 depending on circumstances of the case.
