A woman has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in a hay wagon accident that took place back on October, 2019. Kaitlin Minick, 22, of DeKalb already faces multiple charges in connection with the incident.
The present charge of DUI was brought against her now and an arrest warrant was issued for her on February 27. Following the warrant, Minick was taken into custody by the authorities.
According to the details shared by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Minick was involved in a traffic accident on the River Road in Little Rock Township, Kendall County. She was driving westbound on the road when she crashed into a hay wagon being towed by a tractor. The wagon was being used for an excursion ride and had 14 passengers on board.
In the wake of the crash, 11 of the passengers of the ride sustained injuries and had to be transported to the hospital. Three of the passengers remained in serious condition for some time although they later recovered.
Minick sustained minor injuries on the scene of the accident and was soon allowed to leave. Following preliminary investigations into the crash, a number of charges were brought against Minick. These included operating an uninsured motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failure to reduce speed to avoid collision. However, further charges have now been brought after the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office conducted a lengthy investigation. New charges against Minick include six counts of aggravated DUI as well as standard DUI.
