Keith Bowers and Samuel Sahagun-Banuelos Killed in Wrong-Way Crash

Two individuals lost their lives in a wrong-way car crash that occurred on the Interstate 80 on Wednesday, April 1. Both victims were drivers of the two vehicles involved in the crash. One driver was clearly negligent so that the survivors of others can seek damages with the help of a car accident attorney.

According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, the incident took place late on Wednesday night. Authorities were notified about the crash that took place on the I-80 ramp in Oak Forest, Illinois, at around 11:20 p.m.

The incident occurred when a wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle, causing critical injuries to both drivers. The wrong-way vehicle was later identified by the authorities as a 2003 Silver Toyota Sequoia. The vehicle was traveling westwards in the eastbound lanes of the I-80 ramp. The driver of the Sequoia was identified as Samuel Sahagun-Banuelos, 23, of Lansing.

As Banuelos drove wrong-way on the I-80 ramp, his vehicle collided into a 2015 silver Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe was traveling eastbound in the center lane of the I-80 lane. The driver of the Tahoe was identified as Keith Bowers, 48, of Merrillville, Indiana.

The Sequoia collided into the Tahoe just west of the I-57 north junction. Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were stuck in their vehicle following the crash. By the time the first responders arrived on the site of the accident, both drivers had died of their injuries.

As emergency responders and law enforcement arrived on the site of the crash, eastbound lanes of the I-80 were close to all traffic. The eastbound lanes remained closed until 3 a.m.

The case falls under wrongful death, given the vivid negligence of the wrong-way driver that caused the death of the other driver as well. Family of the eastbound driver, Keith Bowers, can sue for damages with help from a car accident attorney.
