A news release by the Naperville Police Department, on Monday, June 8th, disclosed the charges against the man who caused a fatal DUI crash in Naperville, Illinois. Frank Qualtier Jr., 54, is facing DUI and reckless homicide charges.
The suspect is responsible for a head-on collision that claimed the life of a male motorist from Woodridge on Saturday, June 6th. The crash report revealed that Qualtier at about 7:30 p.m. was heading west on Royce Road in a silver 2014 Dodge Durango pickup.
The vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes near Lisson Road and struck a black 2017 Ford Fiesta. The impact caused the Dodge to roll several times before resting on its roof. The 41-year-old driver of the second vehicle was stuck in his car, and first responders had to extricate him from it.
The Ford driver was already unresponsive, and the paramedics pronounced him dead. The investigators did not release the victim’s name pending notification of his next-of-kin. NPD officers took Qualtier into custody and charged him.
They booked him into the Will County Adult Detention Facility under the supervision of the Will County Sheriff’s Office. The crash remains under investigation, and witnesses can contact the Traffic Unit of NPD on the listed line.
A DUI occurs when a driver gets behind the wheel of a car when under the intoxicating effects of drugs or (and) alcohol. The two lead to severe impairment by affecting the driver’s cognitive abilities and ultimately result in reckless driving and accidents.
Those involved in DUI-related crashes should secure the services of auto accident attorneys to represent their interests.
