Rashaad Addision Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash On Illinois 13 In Williamson County


Authorities said one man was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck in Williamson County.

Rashaad E. Addison, 26, of Marion, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck Friday afternoon on Illinois 13, according to car accident reports. No other injuries were reported as a result of the wreck, the Illinois State Police reported.

Authorities said Addison was driving west on Illinois 13 at about 2 p.m. Friday approaching the Williamson County line when he crashed into the rear end of a tuck that was stopped for traffic. Car accident reports state the truck driver had stopped and was waiting to make a left turn.

Emergency medical professionals pronounced Addison dead from his injuries before he could be taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to car accident reports. The other driver, whom authorities did not publicly identify, was not wounded in the incident.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, authorities said.

Authorities have not announced any citations or charges in connection to the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have not said whether other factors, such as speed, intoxication or road conditions, might have contributed to the crash.

A stretch of the highway was closed for more than one hour while investigators worked at the scene. Additional car accident reports could be forthcoming.
