Skyler Williams and Two Others Killed in State Route 33 Solo Crash

The Illinois State Police said on Thursday, August 13th, that three people lost their lives in a car accident on State Route 33, Crawford County, Illinois. They identified two of the victims as 21-year-old Skyler Williams of Lawrenceville and 20-year-old Kodey Burns of Robinson.

The accident report did not release the name of the third fatal victim, a 13-year-old boy from Vincennes, Indiana. The ISP said that Williams was eastbound on SR-33 near Palestine when he failed to negotiate a curve. He went off the roadway and struck a pole.

The crash’s impact ejected the teenage boy and Burns; the two were seated in the back seat. The duo and Williams sustained severe wounds, and they died at the scene. The police said that another passenger, 23-year-old Morgan Wells, of Loogootee, Indiana, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at an area hospital.

The ISP did not release additional information on the occurrence. The investigation remains active.

Traffic accidents of this nature happen for multiple reasons that are either human-made or caused by external factors. They include driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, driving the wrong way, and distracted driving, among other factors.

Motorists must avoid the above and follow safety tips released by law enforcement and traffic agencies. Safety tips include pulling into traffic slowly, watching out for red-light runners, keeping at least one hand on the steering wheel, watching for kids, performing engine maintenance regularly, and always scanning the road 12 seconds ahead.
