Terrence Bowers Injured In Rochelle Two-Vehicle Crash


A two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Rochelle resulted in at least one injury, the Illinois State Police reported Monday.

Terrence L. Bowers, 55, of Rochelle, suffered injuries in the crash that aren’t believed to be life-threatening, car accident reports state. The other driver in the incident reportedly refused treatment at the scene.

Troopers said Bowers was driving east on Illinois 38 at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday when he attempted to pass another vehicle. Bowers then lost control of his vehicle and struck the vehicle he was attempting to pass, according to car accident reports.

Both vehicles overturned during the wreck, the Illinois State Police reported. Troopers did not say whether either driver was transporting passengers at the time.

Emergency responders transported Bowers to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained in the wreck. The other driver, identified by authorities as Bruce D. Ellison, 64, of Loves Park, declined medical treatment at the scene, troopers said.

According to car accident reports, Bowers was cited with improper lane usage. Authorities have not announced any criminal charges in connection to the wreck, and they have not said whether factors like speed or inattentive driving are thought to have contributed.

The Illinois State Police were assisted at the scene by the Rochelle Police Department, the Rochelle Fire Department and the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department. Information released by the state agency does not state whether the investigation will continue or if additional citations are forthcoming.
