A car accident report revealed that a male driver lost his life in a crash on Illinois Route 84 in Illinois’s Carroll County area on Sunday, September 6th. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Thomas W. Downing, a 40-year-old Savanna resident.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that they received a call about the incident at approximately 8:10 p.m. The crash happened three miles north of Thomson. The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was northbound on I-84 when he lost control of his vehicle.
The car went off the roadway and struck a barrier and a tee before overturning. Downing suffered severe wounds, and the Carroll County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead. The police said he was the only vehicle and person involved in the occurrence.
The Thompson Fire Department, Thomson Police Department, Savannah Ambulance, and the Savannah Police Department assisted the CCSO. The investigation is ongoing, and there’s no additional information.
