Tracy Holland Identified as Aurora Hit-and-Run Victim

The pedestrian who died on Wednesday, July 8th, in an auto-pedestrian crash in Aurora, Illinois, has been identified. In updated accident reports on Friday, July 10th, the Aurora Police Department revealed the name of the man as Tracy Holland, 55, of Pheasant Run Lane.

The call about the crash came in just before 10 p.m. at the city’s 911 center. The report disclosed that a vehicle struck Holland on Ogden Avenue just west of Long Grove Drive on the city’s east side. When officers and members of the Aurora Fire Department arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on the roadway.

Paramedics tried to perform life-saving measures on Holland, but he remained unresponsive, and they pronounced him dead at the scene. Officers said that the preliminary investigation uncovered that two cars struck the man, and they labeled it as a hit-and-run after finding out one of the drivers fled the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle stopped in a nearby parking lot and waited to speak with the officers before leaving the scene. The second motorist remains at large, and traffic investigators are searching for the person and the vehicle involved. Anyone with relevant and helpful information should contact the APD Traffic Division or call the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers.

A hit-and-run occurs when drivers leave the scene of an accident. Under Illinois law, motorists must remain after a crash and render help to those who need it while waiting for the first responders to arrive.
