A single-vehicle accident in the Clark County left one person injured on Wednesday, April 8. The truck accident took place in the evening and was reported to the authorities at around 7:30 p.m. as per preliminary accident reports.
According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, the incident occurred on the Interstate 70 in Clark County, Illinois. A vehicle was traveling westbound on the I-70 when it ran into adverse weather conditions. The vehicle was identified as a Black 2018 Freightliner truck tractor.
As the semi-trailer drew close to the Milepost 137 at I-70, it faced strong gusts of cross wind. These were caused by a thunderstorm in the region. The strong wind currents caused the vehicle to lose its balance and then overturn on the driver side. As the vehicle fell on its side, it came to rest in the median, effectively blocking one of the westbound lanes.
ISP has identified two occupants who were present in the vehicle at the time. One occupant was identified as Tyquisha L. Bright, 22, of Tampa, Florida. Bright was driving the vehicle at the time of incident. She was accompanied by Terrence V. Dickson, 42, of Monroe, Los Angeles. Dickson was the second occupant and the only passenger in the vehicle.
Following the accident, Bright sustained injuries. Once the first responders arrived on the site of the crash, Bright was transported to an area hospital. Dickson remained largely safe in the incident and ISP didn’t any injuries for him. Investigations are still ongoing into the incident. Preliminary accident reports suggest that no serious injuries were involved.
