The victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that took place on Sunday, February 23, has been identified by the police as Andrew Tyler, 35, of Grant. The accident took place in Muskegon County close to Rockford.
According to the details shared by the police, the incident happened on the River Road in Muskegon Township. Tyler was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander at the time. As he drove eastbound on the River Road, he failed to negotiate a curve on the road. As a consequence, his vehicle left the roadway and then hit a utility pole. After hitting the pole, the Commander overturned and hit a tree nearby.
The accident took place late at night and the authorities were notified of it at about 12:40 a.m. Tyler sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash. Once the law enforcement agencies arrived on the scene of the accident, Tyler was pronounced dead. He was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time. No other vehicle or person was involved in the crash.
The crash happened close to the Betty Lane and Michigan State Police was among the law enforcement agencies that responded to the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the incident. Tyler’s identity was initially kept secret while the police notified the family and conducted preliminary investigations. As per these investigations, authorities believe that alcohol was a likely factor that caused the crash. However, a more concrete cause of the accident will be revealed once the police conclude the investigations.
