Authorities on Sunday released the name of the motorcyclist who died Friday in a single-vehicle crash in Jackson County.
Brandon M. Seger, 34, of Leoni Township, was pronounced dead at an area hospital after the crash, which occurred Friday evening, according to authorities. Seger was along on the motorcycle and no other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Department deputies said Seger was driving east on Cady Road near Wolf Lake Road shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday when his motorcycle left the roadway. Seger then crashed the bike into a tree, according to authorities.
Seger was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s department.
Investigators said Seger was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Deputies said the investigation is ongoing.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched by one of Seger’s family members shortly after he was killed. As of Sunday evening, the campaign had just eclipsed the $3,500 fundraising goal.
“He was a dedicated father and the sole provider for his two teenage daughters,” campaign organizers wrote. “We are asking for help with funeral expenses. Any funds raised beyond the funeral expenses will be used to support his daughters.”
