Danielle Held Injured in a Two-Vehicle Crash on M-123

In a crash that took place near Trout Lake in the early hours of Friday, a woman sustained significant injuries. The woman has been identified as Danielle Held, 28, of Newberry.

Held was traveling northbound on the M-123 when she somehow lost control of her vehicle. Her vehicle then crossed the center line and collided into another vehicle. The accident took place just north of the Trout Lake at around 8:00 a.m. The other vehicle which was hit by Held’s vehicle was a plow truck belonging to the Chippewa County Road Commission. Ronald Manchem, 52, of Trout Lake was driving the truck. Manchem remained safe in the accident and didn’t incur any injuries.

The Chippewa County Road Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation were the first to respond to the accident. Held was immediately transported to the Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. She sustained injuries to the head and arms during the collision. After undergoing primary treatment at the facility, she was then airlifted to the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Following the crash, the M-123 was temporarily closed by the law enforcement agencies. The road remained closed until 12:40 p.m. Investigations are still ongoing about the accident, led by the Michigan State Police. Among other things, the police are trying to ascertain what caused Held to lose control of her vehicle and cross the center line. Other agencies which participated in help and investigations of the accident include Michigan Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and the Hulbert Fire Department.
