Two men were killed Friday afternoon as they worked on stalled farm equipment alongside a Bay City roadway, according to investigators.
David T. Wright, 57, of Standish, and Steven N. Milliman, 65, of Pinconning, were pronounced dead as a result of injuries from the crash, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Department. No other injuries in connection to the incident were listed on car accident reports available Saturday afternoon.
Authorities said Wright and Milliman were working on a disabled farm trailer on the eastbound side of Cody Estey Road near Nine Mile Road at about 3 p.m. Friday. At the same time, a westbound driver on Cody Estey Road lost control of his vehicle, crossing the centerline into the eastbound lane.
The driver, identified in car accident reports only as a 23-year-old Rhodes man, struck Wright and Milliman with his vehicle. The driver did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where Wright was pronounced dead from his injuries. Car accident reports state Milliman was taken to an area hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bay County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities have not said what led the driver to lose control of his vehicle, though they said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
No charges or citations have been issued in connection to the incident.
