A semi-truck driver incurred minor injuries in an accident that took place on Monday on the Pennsylvania Avenue of the I-96. The truck driver has now stated that she wasn’t speeding at the time of the collision, contradicting the preliminary report of the police.
The driver, Theresa Sierminski, was traveling on the I-96. Her truck effectively flipped over as she attempted to take an exit. It was on the bend that the truck lost its balance and fell on one side. The police later stated that speed was a factor which contributed to the flipping over of the truck. However, Sierminski has now contradicted this, claiming that she was going slower than 45mph at the time the accident happened.
According to Sierminski, as she was taking the exit off I-96, she felt a slight bump in the rear of the truck. The truck then began to tip over. Sierminski was wearing a seatbelt and was still buckled when the truck flipped on its side. She then unbuckled herself with some difficulty. Passengers in a car passing by helped her get out of the truck.
The Lansing Police Department is still investigating the accident. According to the police, the incident took place at 1:15 p.m. on February 17.
Shroyer Towing helped with removing the truck from the road and get it back up. Air cushions were used to get the truck up in one piece which made it easier to tow it away from the site of the wreck.
