According to the Midland County Sheriff’s Department, Mechem was driving a pickup truck east on West Brooks Road at about 10:50 p.m. Monday when he lost control of his vehicle. The truck veered off the roadway, entered a ditch and rolled over, according to car accident reports.

Justin Mechem reportedly was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the wreck. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was ejected from the vehicle in the crash.
